Since 1994 the National Centre for Childhood Grief (NCCG) has supported bereaved children and their families with the death of their parent, sibling or close loved one. Family bereavement is one of the most deeply traumatic experiences for children, impacting more than 1 in 20 children in Australia. The death of their loved one can significantly impact a child’s mental and physical health, family security, education and more, especially if not supported early with specialist care. The NCCG provides free specialist services for children aged 3-17 years across Australia, including personal and group counselling, adventure camps, publications, support for parents, schools, other health professionals and community groups. The NCCG is mainly funded by community donations.
