The Smith Family is a children's charity helping disadvantaged Australian children to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. 

1 in 6 children are living in poverty across Australia and too often the effects of poverty go beyond a child’s home life, affecting their schooling. Without the basic items they need for school, such as books or a uniform, they can feel like they don’t fit in or belong. Disadvantaged children are also much more likely to start school behind, and without support they can fall further behind as each year passes.
